Get to Know Dr. Barrickman A Dedicated Dentist Serving Greater Anchorage
Dr. Barrickman was born and raised in Anchorage, AK and is a third generation dentist. After graduating from Dimond High School, Dr. Barrickman joined the Army as a paratrooper, serving in both Afghanistan and Iraq. After completing his tours, he attended and graduated from the University of Alaska, Anchorage with a degree in
Biological Science before attending the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine and attaining his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. Upon graduating, he did a hospital based General Practice Residency at Palmetto Health Richland in Columbia, South Carolina, where he focused on implant training, IV Sedation, special needs patients, medically compromised patients, pediatric patients, and advanced surgical procedures. His favorite part of dentistry is helping people overcome difficult past dental experiences and have successful and comfortable appointments.
When not at the clinic, you can find Dr. Barrickman out exploring and adventuring around all the great places this amazing state has to offer.

His Inspiration for Becoming a Dentist
- I got interested in dentistry in high school by shadowing my dentist and orthodontist. After seeing the impact they had on their patients' lives, I was inspired to make that a goal of my own: to help others improve their lives by relieving pain and providing the pathway toward a confident smile.
From South to North: Appreciation for His Alaskan Community

I love the common interests people have here. Being able to relate to others (even as a transplant) by discussing common interests like outdoorsmanship and travel has made our transition to life up here much easier.
We've also been pleasantly surprised by the little taste of Southern hospitality; something we thought would be sorely missed. .
Activities Outside of the Office
- Anything outdoors: hunting, fishing, hiking, camping; playing sports; travelling; hosting friends and family from the Lower 48; spending time with my wife; and getting ready for the birth of our son.
